About this timeline

This interactive guide follows the pre-tribulation, premillennial, dispensational understanding of Bible prophecy taught by The Dogeared Disciple. Other Christians interpret some passages and the order of events differently. We distinguish direct biblical statements from interpretive conclusions wherever the timing is debated.

Important: Some events happen over a period of time or overlap with others. These markers form a teaching sequence, not fourteen separate calendar dates. Scripture gives no date for the Rapture or Christ’s return.

Event 1 of 14

EVENT 01 OF 14 · The Church

The Church Age

An age of grace and gospel witness

What Scripture describes

From Pentecost onward, Christ is building His Church, a people united to Him by the Holy Spirit. The Church proclaims the gospel while awaiting Christ’s promised return.

Why this matters

Our starting point is the finished work of Jesus Christ and the salvation He gives by grace through faith. The Church’s calling is to make disciples, live faithfully, and remain watchful.

Read the sequence carefully

The Church Age is an ongoing period, not a countdown that Scripture dates for us.

EVENT 02 OF 14 · The Church

The Rapture of the Church

Christ gathers those who belong to Him

What Scripture describes

Jesus Christ will gather believers to Himself. The dead in Christ are raised, and living believers are changed and caught up together with them to meet the Lord.

Why this matters

This is the Church’s blessed hope. In the pre-tribulation understanding, Christ delivers His Church before the coming period of divine wrath.

Read the sequence carefully

Scripture teaches the event; the pre-tribulation placement rests on a broader interpretation of several passages. No calendar date is revealed.

EVENT 03 OF 14 · The Church

The Judgment Seat of Christ

Believers’ service is evaluated

What Scripture describes

Those who belong to Christ will appear before His judgment seat. Scripture describes the testing of their works and the giving or loss of rewards.

Why this matters

This evaluation concerns believers’ service, not whether Christ’s finished work was sufficient to save them.

Read the sequence carefully

The event follows believers being gathered to Christ, but Scripture does not specify its precise calendar placement relative to every event on earth.

EVENT 04 OF 14 · The Tribulation

Daniel’s Seventieth Week

The prophetic period often called the Tribulation

What Scripture describes

Daniel’s seventy-weeks prophecy provides a central framework for this period. In the dispensational reading, the final week remains future and concerns God’s purposes for Israel and Jerusalem.

Why this matters

The seven-year framework comes from Daniel 9:27, alongside passages describing halves of this period. Revelation unfolds divine judgments and testimony during this time.

Read the sequence carefully

An interval between the Rapture and the beginning of this week is possible; the Bible does not state that they must occur on the same day.

EVENT 05 OF 14 · The Tribulation

The Rise of the Antichrist

Deception, political power, and opposition to God

What Scripture describes

Scripture describes a future ruler who exalts himself, opposes God, and ultimately demands worship. His activities are linked with Daniel’s final week and the prophetic warnings of Jesus and Paul.

Why this matters

This event shows why believers should distinguish what Scripture reveals from speculation about modern personalities or headlines.

Read the sequence carefully

His ascent overlaps the Tribulation period; not every stage of his rise is assigned a precise date.

EVENT 06 OF 14 · The Tribulation

The Seal, Trumpet, and Bowl Judgments

God’s judgments unfold

What Scripture describes

Revelation portrays a sequence of seal, trumpet, and bowl judgments as God confronts rebellion and brings His purposes toward completion.

Why this matters

These chapters call readers to take divine judgment seriously while remembering that God remains sovereign and faithful to His promises.

Read the sequence carefully

This overview groups judgment cycles for learning purposes. Their relationships and the precise placement of interludes require detailed interpretation.

EVENT 07 OF 14 · The Tribulation

The Tribulation Saints

People from many nations believe in Christ

What Scripture describes

Revelation describes people who belong to Jesus during the Tribulation, including a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and tongue. Many endure severe persecution.

Why this matters

In this pre-tribulation framework, these are people who believe after the Church has been caught up. They include both Jews and Gentiles, and they are saved by grace through faith in Christ.

Read the sequence carefully

Their witness and persecution extend across the period; this marker does not imply that every Tribulation saint is saved at the same moment.

EVENT 08 OF 14 · Christ’s Return

Israel’s Future Deliverance

The Lord fulfills His promises to Israel

What Scripture describes

The prophets describe a future turning to the Lord and deliverance of Jerusalem. Paul likewise teaches that God has not abandoned His covenant purposes for Israel.

Why this matters

From a dispensational perspective, Israel’s national restoration belongs to the climax of the Tribulation and Christ’s appearing.

Read the sequence carefully

The turning of Israel and Christ’s return are closely related prophetic realities, not necessarily two widely separated events.

EVENT 09 OF 14 · Christ’s Return

The Second Coming of Christ

Jesus returns to reign

What Scripture describes

Jesus Christ returns openly and victoriously as the promised King. Revelation portrays Him defeating the gathered forces of rebellion and establishing the conditions for His kingdom.

Why this matters

The Second Coming completes the earthly judgment sequence and vindicates God’s promises. This timeline distinguishes it from Christ’s earlier gathering of the Church.

Read the sequence carefully

Some Christian traditions interpret the relationship between the Rapture and Second Coming differently. This page follows the pre-tribulation view.

EVENT 10 OF 14 · Christ’s Return

The Judgment of the Nations

The King judges the nations

What Scripture describes

Jesus describes the Son of Man coming in glory and separating the nations as a shepherd separates sheep from goats. In this prophetic framework, that judgment belongs to the transition into the kingdom.

Why this matters

This judgment should be studied in its own context rather than automatically identified with the Great White Throne judgment after the Millennium.

Read the sequence carefully

The dispensational placement of Matthew 25 after the Second Coming is an interpretation; not all Christian traditions place the passage the same way.

EVENT 11 OF 14 · The Kingdom

The Millennial Kingdom

Christ reigns for a thousand years

What Scripture describes

Revelation 20 describes a thousand-year reign in which Satan is bound and believers reign with Christ. The prophets also anticipate a future kingdom marked by righteousness and peace.

Why this matters

The premillennial, dispensational reading takes this as a future earthly reign of Jesus Christ, during which God fulfills His promises to Israel.

Read the sequence carefully

The nature and chronology of the thousand years are interpreted differently in amillennial and postmillennial traditions.

EVENT 12 OF 14 · The Kingdom

The Final Rebellion

Satan’s last revolt is defeated

What Scripture describes

At the end of the thousand years, Satan is released for a short time and deceives the nations in a final rebellion. God brings that rebellion to an immediate end.

Why this matters

Even after a long period of righteous rule, human rebellion demonstrates the need for God’s final judgment and the complete renewal of creation.

Read the sequence carefully

Revelation supplies the basic sequence; it does not invite speculation about the identities of modern nations in this final revolt.

EVENT 13 OF 14 · Eternity

The Great White Throne Judgment

Final judgment before God

What Scripture describes

John sees the dead standing before the great white throne, with books opened and judgment rendered. Death and Hades are cast into the lake of fire.

Why this matters

This is a solemn picture of God’s perfect justice and a reminder of why the gospel of Jesus Christ matters now.

Read the sequence carefully

In this framework, this judgment follows the Millennium and is distinguished from the Judgment Seat of Christ for believers.

EVENT 14 OF 14 · Eternity

The New Heavens and New Earth

God dwells with His people forever

What Scripture describes

God makes all things new. Revelation portrays the New Jerusalem, the removal of death and sorrow, and the unhindered presence of God with His people.

Why this matters

The storyline ends in hope: the Lord keeps His promises, judges evil, and brings His redeemed people into everlasting fellowship with Him.

Read the sequence carefully

Scripture reveals the certainty and beauty of the eternal state without satisfying every question about its physical details.
